🚀 Collective Missions

Turn alignment into action — with minimal management

Collective Missions are how Ambassadors activate a Hello! Collective when real momentum exists among its memebers.

They allow you to move from aligned people ➜ focused collaboration — without feeds, group chat, task boards, or ongoing moderation.

Hello! handles alignment and validation.
The actual work & implementation happens elsewhere.

🧭 1. What Is a Collective Mission?

A Collective Mission is a time-defined, purpose-driven activation of your Collective.

It gives aligned members:

  • a clear goal

  • a defined window of time

  • a clean handoff to where the work occurs

—all without turning your Collective into a social or project management platform.

Many groups fail after people gather, because:

  • alignment is unclear

  • roles are vague

  • collaboration starts too early

  • there is no clear beginning or end

Collective Missions solve this by creating clarity & alignment before action & implementation begins.

💡 2. Why Missions Exist

🧱 3. Where Collective Missions Fits in your Project

Collective Missions are not where your members do their work or activate your goals. Rather it presents an open call for people interested in your Collective's focus to:

  • validate their identity

  • verify their intent (via LinkUps)

  • see the Collective's direction via Polls

  • join the Collective Directory if approved

This basically answers one critical question:
Who should be here, and why?

As mentioned, Hello! Collectives are not where collaborative work is hosted or managed.

Once a Mission is ready, execution moves to the platform you choose:
Google Docs · Notion · Slack · Discord · GitHub · Zoom

When ready, Hello! simply provides the handoff to the workspaces you identify. Collective members conduct their work there.

🛠️ 4. Where the actual Collaborative Work Happens

Every Mission follows a simple lifecycle:

① Align
Members submit Mission LinkUps and declare how they want to contribute

② Deploy
You and your members begin work activities outside Hello!

③ Close
When the work concludes, you formally close the Mission

No feeds. No chatter. No drift.

🔄 5. The Mission Flow

As an Ambassador, you remain fully in control.

You:

  • define the Mission goal and time window

  • decide when alignment is sufficient

  • declare where collaboration will happen

  • approve participants

  • mark when the Mission starts and ends

In Hello!, You are not expected to:

  • manage tasks

  • moderate discussions

  • run internal infrastructure or community

🧑‍🚀 6. Your Role as an Ambassador

👥 7. What Members Experience

From a member’s perspective, the experience is calm and intentional:

  • 📄 they review the Mission

  • 🔗 they align via LinkUp

  • 🪪 they create an account & Signature Card if they haven't already

  • 👥 they learn about other Collective members (Collective Directory)

  • 📬 they are notified when collaboration begins

  • 🛠️ they work/communicate in the external platform

  • ✅ they receive clear closure

No guessing. No noise.

People may discover a Collective or Mission before creating a Hello! account or Signature Card — that’s fine.

Anyone can submit a LinkUp to express interest. This helps Ambassadors gauge initial interest, intent and alignment.

Recommendation: Applying to a Collective when one already have a Signature Card helps provide a clarity regarding fit. Applicants can use their free Publishing Slot to publish a Signature card specifically for a Collective. Or they can purchase additional Publishing slots to publish cards that serve various purposes.

🎛️ 8. Mission Controls & Notifications (Ambassador Only)

Mission Controls and Notifications are two sides of the same mechanism.

Each Mission includes two simple in‑app controls:

🟢 Begin Collaboration

When you click this button, you are declaring:

  • the Mission is ready for execution

  • alignment is complete

  • work now moves outside Hello!

What Hello! does automatically:

  • sends an email to approved participants

  • confirms the Mission is active

  • identifies the external collaboration platform

  • reiterates expected duration or scope

🔴 Close Mission

When you click this button, you are declaring:

  • the Mission has concluded

  • no further participation is expected

What Hello! does automatically:

  • sends a closure email to participants

  • archives the Mission for reference

These controls replace manual emails and follow‑ups by tying communication directly to Mission state changes.

Running Collective Missions requires a Hello! Pro tier ($3.99/m).

Pro unlocks:

  • 📊 Polls for alignment signals

  • 🔗 higher LinkUp limits

  • ⚙️ engagement tools needed to activate Missions

Free users can explore and join. Pro enables stewardship.
